The Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety (LMRIS) in Hopkinton, MA is seeking an experienced research scientist to join the Center for Behavioral Sciences. The mission of the Center is to investigate behavioral, cognitive, and organizational factors surrounding workplace injuries and highway collisions. We are a fully-funded Research Institute and are committed to high quality scientific work and dissemination of our findings in peer-reviewed scientific publications.
This researcher will conduct original and independent research from the perspective of safety as a process of adaptation to complexity driven by changing demands and/or unexpected events and should have the willingness and capability to examine topics such as risk perception, fatigue, team performance, human error, organizational safety climate, safety systems, training, performance feedback, and interaction with new technologies. The researcher must have the capability and willingness to collaborate with other researchers on diverse safety-related problems outside of (as well as within) his/her primary area of research interests, and, as appropriate, to provide mentorship to less experienced researchers and oversight of support staff. The researcher will be expected to disseminate research results to the scientific community as well as industry stakeholders through peer-reviewed journals, technical seminars and presentations.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an internationally-recognized, multidisciplinary team. The Institute staff represents the fields of biomechanics, experimental and cognitive psychology, epidemiology, tribology, physiology, engineering, sociology, biostatistics and the clinical sciences. We have excellent laboratory, computer, statistical, research and technical support available on-site, and our research activities are internally-funded. We have active collaborations with Harvard University, the University of Massachusetts, and other international academic leaders in our fields of interest.

Qualifications:
* Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent) in human factors/ergonomics or related area with at least 5 years experience/training in research in behavioral science focused on one or more the following: surface, transportation, macroergonomics, cognitive systems engineering, resilience engineering, human system integration, socio-technical systems analysis.
* Established record of peer-reviewed scientific publication.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
