Description

This position is for a Postdoctoral Researcher in a Science or Engineering field in the Milton S. Eisenhower Research Center. Specifially in one of the following topic areas :Cognitive Engineering, Materials Sciences, Computational Electromagnetics, Nanotechnology Applications Physicist.

The Milton S. Eisenhower Research Center is a research and advanced technology development organization within JHU/APL, and its mission is to create breakthrough technologies and develop expertise in critical areas for the benefits of the Laboratory and its sponsors. Leading edge scientists and engineers conduct long-term mission-inspired research, convert research results into technology demonstrations, and work with other Laboratory business areas or directly with national security and civilian space sponsors to transition these technologies to operational systems.

In execution of its mission, the Research Center staff collaborates extensively with the academic divisions of Johns Hopkins University, other universities, government laboratories, other research centers, and selected commercial companies. We seek Postdoctoral Researchers with demonstrated talent that have a strong interest in creating breakthrough technologies for the operational superiority of the missions of JHU/APL sponsors. Of the 150 research center staff members, approximately half have a Doctorate Degree and 10% have a Research Faculty appointment in the academic divisions of Johns Hopkins University.

The academic degrees of the staff include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Molecular & Cell Biology, Materials Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Cognitive Science. The Research Areas include Information Processing and Management, Biological Technologies, Nanotechnologies and Material Science, Detection and Tracking Technologies, and Cognitive Engineering for Human Dynamics. The diversity of research work and technical expertise allows and encourages strong interdisciplinary and collaborative environment for post doctorate research.Conduct research in subject field.

A Research Plan will be developed with assigned Mentor for research during the post doctoral appointment.Write proposals, meet with sponsors and representatives of other BA¿s at APL to determine needs and opportunities.Work with Principal Investigators on research in same or related fields in support to the JHU/APL sponsor base.


Requirements

Required: PhD degree in a relevant science/engineering domain. All requirements for the PhD degree must be completed prior to assuming the position.
